For 13 years, I had the immense privilege of serving as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal in FCPS. All of the different hats I wore during those years have prepared me for what I am certain will be my favorite “hat” of all. As I embark on my second year as Stonewall's Principal, I am excited and extremely honored to continue serving the very best students, families and staff.
I am originally from Dayton, Ohio, and a proud product of great public schools. It was because of my parents’ sacrifices and commitment to a quality education that I fell in love with learning and the opportunities school provided me at a young age. I am dedicated to creating those same opportunities for ALL of our Stonewall students.
I grew up a huge UK fan because my dad was born and raised in Kentucky. I moved to Lexington initially to attend the University of Kentucky as an undergraduate student, where I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I fell in love with the city of Lexington and decided to make this my new home. I was hired at Dixie Magnet Elementary after graduation and taught 2nd grade there for three years. In 2014, I transferred to Stonewall as a 3rd grade teacher. During this time, I completed my master's from UK in Literacy and completed my certification to be a K-12 Literacy Specialist in 2015. In 2018, I completed my Ed.S. degree in Educational Leadership from UK as part of the Next Gen Leadership Academy, and received my Principal Certification. I served as the MTSS coach at Stonewall in 2018, and then accepted the PGE coach/assistant principal position in 2019. I served in that role for five years and developed a true passion for educational leadership.
I believe there truly is no school like Stonewall, and our students’ and families’ dedication and unwavering involvement is what makes our school uniquely special. As Principal, I commit to working with all stakeholders to ensure our environment prioritizes the learning of all students, and I commit to maintaining and establishing a culture focused on three essential areas:
These three pillars encompass my vision for Stonewall’s next chapter, in which we focus on educating the whole child with rigorous deeper learning experiences that create equitable access and opportunities to ensure all students achieve at high levels. I believe that by design, education can provide our children with a world of opportunities if we design it to prioritize equity, deeper learning, and family and community relationships. I have such a bright vision for Stonewall’s future because I know that our students and families are in the best of hands with our Stonewall staff, and that together we can ensure all students achieve great things.
