PTA Programming and Events

 

 

Throughout the year, the Stonewall PTA is busy with various programs and events.  Usually, we plan & host events at school, like Back to School Bash, Science Night, Literacy Night, Arts Night, Field Day, Movie Night, Champs Night, etc.  The last couple of years have been different with fewer in-person events (which we hope will change soon!) but we are still hard at work on other things!  

Yearbook

• Every year the Stonewall PTA and staff create a wonderful hardcover yearbook that can be purchased to remember your student’s year!  The yearbook includes individual student photos, class photos, special-area photos plus candids from class parties, events, and activities!

Science Fair

The Stonewall Elementary Science Fair is an opportunity for 4th and 5th grade students to utilize the scientific method learned in the classroom and apply it towards an independently developed question of their own. The results of each student's research is presented to a panel of judges who then interview and determine scientific merit. Winners of the local fair advance to The Kentucky American Water/Fayette County Public School District Fair.

The 2021-2022 school year fair was held on December 6, 2021.

These winners all went on to represent Stonewall at the District Science fair.  Congratulations to all of our winners!

National PTA Reflections Program

This program just celebrated its 50th year anniversary, and is the most treasured program of the National PTA. It encourages every student to submit art projects in dance, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. Every student may submit a piece in multiple categories. Entries are judged at school level and those winners advance to district judging where they are displayed in downtown Lexington at the Lyric Theater. District winners advance to state. State winners advance to nationals. All judging is conducted by local, state, and nationally known professionals in each discipline. One overall national winner in each category will be crowned in May of each year. Nationwide, over 300,000 students participate each year.

Field Day

This fun event is held in May before the end of school and the PTA and Stonewall staff work in partnership to provide a day of fun outdoor activity to our students.  

Kentucky Kids Day

This event was created by Kentucky PTA to celebrate our wonderful students at all schools across Kentucky!  In celebration, Stonewall PTA provides KONA ice to the entire school.

Spirit Wear

Want to show your stonewall spirit? We’ve got you covered! We offer both youth and adult garments twice a year. Look for short sleeve tees in the fall and long sleeve tees and sweatshirts in the winter. Purchase in person at the back to school bash, online at  https://stonewallpta.memberhub.com/store or via order forms sent home with your student.

Hospitality

Every month the PTA tries to do something for our wonderful Stonewall staff & teachers such as providing breakfast, lunch or snacks!  Also, each year the PTA plans activities and goodies during Teacher/Staff Appreciation in May.  Be on the lookout for sign ups to donate items needed for these events!

Popcorn Fridays

The last Friday of every month PTA Volunteers help pop and bag popcorn for every student. The students love it and look forward to it every month!  If you’d like to volunteer, please email us at stonewallptalex@gmail.com.
